I Can Do Hard Things

 by Kristin Rizzo

Hello, it’ Kristin here to share a 12×12 single-page layout using one of the Hard Things Cut File Titles from the Jennifer Edwardson Creative Digital Shop featuring the “Keeping It Real” collection from Pinkfresh Studio.

After cutting out my cut file and selecting the collection I wanted to use for this layout, I chose the ink pads that I thought would closely match the colours in the patterned paper I chose for backing the cut file.

I used the following inks from Catherine Pooler (from L to R):  Shea Butter, Polished, Coral Cabana, Pink Champagne, Ranger DISTRESS OXIDE in Tattered Rose, Hot Tub, Skylight and Aquatini.

Firstly, I measured out where the colours started and ended in the cut file and marked it in pencil on the cardstock.  Once I backed the cut file, I knew it needed something additional, so I added the black dots with an ultra-fine point Sharpie.

On the “A Little Chaos” patterned paper, I punched out three semi-circle pieces.  Like the title, these needed a little something extra, so I added the black baker’s twine.  Once I knew I was going to use the pink hexagon sticker, I pulled out my hexagon punches and punched out two hexagons so that each cluster would include one.  To achieve this, I used a 1” circle punch and then added some doodling to each of the punched pieces.

FINAL TOUCHES

I knew I wanted to line my embellishments up to their corresponding colour within the title, so I started to select items from the ephemera that matched.  I had recently purchased a beautiful die set that I wanted to try out. So I cut a few sprigs out from that in three different colours and added that to my clusters as I started to build them.  I also added bling from my stash to the Pinkfresh flowers and as well as some random enamel dots.

I had an envelope die I also knew I wanted to use to hide the journaling.  I’ve been in a funk for a few months and felt like it was important to get my feelings documented.  It was actually pretty therapeutic!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a good day!
