Love This Rainbow Layout
by Tracey Campbell
The Groovy Cut File Bundle from this month’s new release really called me. The rainbow heart was one element in the bundle that I knew I just had to use! I could see it in my head, resized and used as a background and all the while I was creating my 12×12 layout to the song Groovy Kind of Love, on repeat in my head!!!
To create this layout, I used some mixed media and sprayed some sky-blue spray in the top left and bottom right corners of an 11×11″ piece of white card-stock. When dry, I splattered the areas with a darker blue and yellow spray. While that dried, I backed the Rainbow Hearts with some bright papers.
I ended up using some random leftover scraps I had in my stash, but the Simple Stories Summer Lovin’ Creative Kit would work beautifully too. When the spray was dry, I positioned the Rainbow Hearts across the page with the larger one in the centre and the smaller ones around the outside and I tucked the photo under the bottom two.
Finally, after piecing it all together, I created clusters of flowers and hearts and then added the title “Love This” using a die cut over top of a smaller Rainbow Heart.
Lastly, I added a bit of journaling about where we were when we had this family photo taken. I used free-hand drawn lines and a black pen.
And there you have it! A bright, cheerful, rainbow inspired layout using just one of the elements from the Groovy Cut File Bundle. Resizing the cut files is the perfect way to make unique and individualized layouts.
