Popsicles Anyone ?!

Hello!  My name is Nancy and I am so thrilled to be a part of the Creative Team as a guest this summer !!

The Cut Files that have been released so far this summer are awesome I was pleased to have a chance to work with them and share my take on them with you all !!

When I saw the popsicles in the It’s Summer Cut File Bundle I knew I had the perfect pictures and paper for the project.  My two boys were so excited that our friendly neighbour bought them popsicles from the ice cream truck that they were willing to strike silly poses so that I could take their photos.

I was able to capture their joy with the title “Hooray It’s Summer” and the “Yay!” Cut Files … and the popsicles were a must of course!

For the “Hooray It’s Summer” Cut File I created 2 mats from cardstock by using the offset feature in the Cricut Design Program.   Then, I cut “ Hooray! It’s Summer” using the contour feature from the “Summer Vibes” paper from the Summer Lovin’ Creative Kit. The contour feature cuts a fill in image of the Cut File and is really handy for backing the full cut out of the words.

This paper was perfect because the cherries, watermelon, oranges etc … capture the flavours of the season and help to engage the sense of taste which was certainly part of the experience for my boys!

Finally I cut the die out in black and layered it over the patterned paper to finish it off !!

As I was finishing my layouts, I felt it needed some more elements … so I added the scallop edge border that I cut from red cardstock along the bottom of the Cut File title.

Then to add some continuity I added a bit of the scallop border along the photo edges and also along the top edge.  For the photos, I chose not to resize the die so that the dimensions remained the same across the pages.  Instead, I trimmed the scallop after it was cut.

As a final touch I added the “lil bit of fun” sticker to one of the photos and used a pop-dot to add the “I love summer” sticker from the Summer Lovin’ Creative Kit featuring Simple Stories !!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today … See you soon !!

Nancy
