Lamp Re-Vamp

Lamp Re-Vamp by Jennifer Edwardson

Have you ever been looking for the ‘perfect’ piece for your home and actually completely unable to find exactly what you have pictured in your mind ?!

You know, there is a spot that needs something and you know what it is but you just can’t seem to find it … it’s either the right shape but wrong colour …. or right colour wrong shape etc … you know what I mean !!

Well, I had been on the hunt for bedside table lamps for QUITE some time (like several years) and just couldn’t find a set that I loved … for me it was the height !! Our bed is quite tall and we need lamps that were the proper height for reading etc …

This is where Online Thrift sites (or local thrift shops) can be SO helpful … i found this shiny old gold set for $20 on Facebook Marketplace and LOVED the shape of them and the height was exactly what we needed !!

This project is NOT DIFFICULT at all … let me just reassure you that YOU CAN DO THIS !!

You just need the proper supplies … AND you’re in luck because we have ALLLLL the things you need to complete this fun DIY in a weekend !!

PROPER PREP is imperative in any paint project … our Fusion TSP Alternative is the very best way to clean your pieces before you do anything else ! Just a capful in water (instructions on bottle) with a clean cloth and you’re good to go !! This gets any dirt, grime, grease, oils, fingerprints etc … off of your project to give you the best possible outcome at the end.

My lamps were SUPER shiny LOL … so I did a little scuff sand with my Sanding Sponge to make sure that my Paint / Fresco mixture had the perfect surface to adhere to … and when I say ‘little scuff sand’ i really mean little … it took me less than 5 minutes total !!

I took my TSP cloth and did a quick wipe down after the scuff sand just to get any additional dust etc … off before i got to the fun stuff !!

NOW COMES THE FUN PART … Fresco and Paint !!

Fresco by Fusion is a SUPER fun paint additive that gives you a fabulous texture to anything you’re working on. It is a powdered formula that you simply add to your chosen paint colour and ‘paint’ onto your project !

You can add a little or a lot, depending on the look you’re trying to achieve.  I wanted mine to be weathered, gritty and stone like … so I added just a touch more than the included instructions recommend.

I mixed the Fresco with Fusion Mineral Paint in the colour Cobblestone … this is one of my FAVE colour from the close to (60) choices in the line.

It is not white, not cream, not grey … but can be used to compliment all the colours !! It is a really gorgeous neutral and one that I think would work in SO many homes !!

I have several videos over on my Instagram account of this process, so be sure to head over HERE and follow me to check them out !!

I added some simple linen lamp shades that i picked up for $20 ea. at Walmart if you can believe it !!

Their section of mix and match lamp pieces is fabulous for a DIY project as you can usually find exactly what you’re looking for to complete a project like this !!

.

My Lamp Re-Vamp Project cost me under $100 and I had so much fun creating them for our bedroom !

REMEMBER … once you purchase supplies like TSP Alternative, the Sanding Sponge, Paint, Fresco and a brush … you will have these products for many more projects !!

I only used 1/3 of a pint of paint and 1/2 cup of Fresco by Fusion for this DIY … your money goes a LONG way with Fusion products !!

If you have any questions or comments, PLEASE reach out !!

I hope this inspires you to look at something in your home a little differently … and that you’ll let me help you fall in love with your furniture all over again !!
