Summer Lovin’ Layout
by Andie Green
Hello Scrappy Friends! It’s Andie on the blog today with some Summer Lovin’ to share!
Summer weather is finally upon us – this is a big deal in a wintery city like Edmonton- so I’ve got sunshine, swimming, campfires, and ice cream on the mind! The new Summer Lovin’ creative kit is perfect for highlighting all these glorious summer memories in your scrapbook layouts.
No surprise the new June cut files compliment this creative kit beautifully, especially the It’s Summer Cut File Bundle. Those dripping popsicles…I love them!
As I was choosing pattern papers to back the cut files, I decided I wanted to ink the Summer Lovin’ title to help it stand out. I found a blue in my supplies that matched closely to the darker blue in the collection. I loved the way it turned out, but also, check out that negative inked image – just a reminder you can use the cut files as stencils too!
I used the inside of the heart cut-out to trace and cut out a red heart, then popped it up slightly higher than the rest of the title. If you don’t have different sized 3D foam stickers, you can double up on them to get this effect. Jennifer has a great selection of 3D foam HERE.
Did I mention my love for the dripping popsicles?! They are the epitome of kids and summer to me! I knew I had to use them with this photo of my daughter enjoying her bubble-gum ice cream cone. For an added pop of dimension, I added the raised ice cream die cut on top of the popsicles.
I layered two of the journaling cards and embellished them with a couple stickers to hide elements on them that I felt didn’t match the layout theme. With so many fabulous embellishments in this kit, it is easy to cover and layer up where it’s needed to make the layout unique to you.
For the sun, I fussy cut it from a journaling card and popped it up in the corner and added some shades! I finished with a few foam stickers and enamel dots, also included in the creative kit, for the final touches!
Thank you for stopping by the blog today, I hope you are also soaking up some Summer sun!
Andie 🙂
