Summer Sunflower

by Heather Fischer

Hello again Crafty friends!! I’m back on the blog to share another layout I created using one of the newly released cut files!

When I saw this Large Sunflower Cut File, I immediately imagined how fabulous it would be as a large image for my background…and I think I was right! 😉

I had thought about cutting it smaller and creating a few for a cluster of sunflowers… (which by the way would also look awesome) But I was more inclined to cut it bigger and build around it with a smaller photo to feature on top.

I cut the sunflower in black card stock as I knew I was going to use a yellow card stock to back it and black really helps make the yellow pop!  I then did some inking in brown around where I knew the centre of the flower would be and backed the centre of the sunflower with a textured brown card stock.  The end result is eye-catching!!

For the rest of the layout, I used an older collection from my stash with neutral colours and patterns. I wanted to ensure the Sunflower was the star of the show. And the neutral elements allowed the picture to stand out as well.

Of course I adhered the cut file to my layout with foam adhesive for added dimension, as I like to do and highly recommend!

For the small journaling block, I used the journal stamp from the Travel Notes stamp set.  You need to have all the Jennifer Edwardson Stamp sets in your collection..I use them often!!

I hope you have so much fun creating with all the new cut files and documenting your all your Summer memories!! Be sure to tag and share your projects for all of us to enjoy and help get inspired too!

Stay crafty,

Heather
