Hello Winter by Andie Green

Hello crafty people, happy January!  Andie here on the blog today sharing with you a cozy winter layout documenting my submission to living in a winter city and needing to own a winter coat, lol!  This Vancouver girl living in Edmonton held out 2 years before buying a proper coat. 😂

I used the NEW Snowflake Background cut file, found HERE, as the starting point of my layout. It is so gorgeous and I loved that the giant snowflake cut out pieces could be used too.

The Evergreen & Holly 12×12 paper pad and the Evergreen & Holly Creative kit had beautiful winter patterns and embellishments to pair with the snowflake background and wintery theme.  Love to see a bit of versatility in a Christmas collection!

details

First I chose a muted, snowflake pattern paper and lightly inked with a blue and a yellow toned ink, concentrated mostly to the right of the page since I knew I’d position my photo to that side.  I splattered some blue ink, let it dry and then adhered the snowflake background cutfile, trimming off the excess pattern paper outside the border of the cutfile. I then inked the outside edge with blue and layered this page onto the red striped pattern paper to give a standout boarder to the layout.

adding dimension

Using 3D foam squares I added a cut out snowflake piece right in the center. Again using 3D foam squares I overlapped the snowflake cut out with my matted photo.  With a lot of white in the background of this layout, I sanded the edges of my photo for a coordinated effect  that also pops nicely against the red mat.  I made the photo mat a little longer in length to add some black bakers twine, drawing from the swoopy (yes, it’s a word!) black title.

I am a big snowman fan, the majority of my Christmas decorations are snowmen, so when I saw this die cut I knew I had to use it.  A few more stickers, a journaling card and some clear Nuvo drops were the finishing touches.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today to share in my layout process.  I hope if you are in a snowy location like me that you are keeping warm and enjoying the beauty that even cold & snowy can bring!
